CMM Programmer

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CMM Programmer to join a reputable manufacturing company in Winchester, VA. The ideal candidate will be proficient in CMM programming, possess in-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and have hands-on experience with First Article Inspections (FAI). A strong background in working with plastics, rubber, or metals will be highly preferred. In this role, you will be responsible for programming and operating the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to ensure precise measurement and quality control of parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize CMM programs for inspection of parts and assemblies.
  • Perform detailed inspections using CMM equipment, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Interpret technical drawings and apply GD&T principles to accurately measure parts.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and document results, ensuring all dimensions and tolerances are met.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address quality issues and resolve measurement discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection data and create reports for quality assurance purposes.
  • Troubleshoot CMM-related issues and ensure the equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Continuously improve processes and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CMM Programmer or similar fuctions such as Quality, Metrology, or Layout Technician.
  • Strong proficiency in CMM programming and operation.
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with First Article Inspections (FAI) and understanding of relevant standards.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Previous experience in plastics, rubber, or metal manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in measurements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CMM software such as Zeiss Calypso, Mitutoyo, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other quality management systems.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior staff on CMM programming and inspection processes.
