Controller

A privately held polymer business is seeking a financial controller with 7+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry. This is an on-site position in the Eastern Atlanta Metropolitan area.

This manufacturing company seeks a Controller who has demonstrated proven leadership and team development to join the leadership team. A successful candidate will have experience in a manufacturing-related industry, experience supervising an accounting team, be detail-oriented, and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the closing of the monthly and year-end financial accounting cycles; ensure that Corporate guidelines and deadlines are met, as well as related accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow information. Compare performance and interpret results against operating plans.
  • Manage the Credit, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cost Functions
  • Prepare financial information for annual budgets, strategic plans, and periodic sales forecasts. Ensure capital investments align with plans and company return objectives. Support the development of departmental expense budgets and inventory cost standards and identify savings and other opportunities to improve performance.
  • Support maintenance of cycle counting processes and annual physical inventories as required.
  • Coordinate activities from the Internal Audit Department, Outside Auditors, and State and Local Audits.
  • Identify business improvement opportunities through process changes, technology advancements, and data analysis.
  • Automate business processes to increase front/back office and plant efficiencies.
  • Develop and monitor key metrics.
  • Continually review operating costs to justify capital equipment upgrades.
  • Support evaluation of acquisition candidates.
  • Develop and present strategic improvements to executive leadership for approval.
  • Continue exploring new technologies for the advancement of the company.
  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance teams.
  • Promote a high-performance, continuous improvement culture that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals.
  • Assist Senior Management with duties as assigned.
  • Handle Corporate reporting requests as needed.

    Job Requirements

  • Minimum Education: B.S. Degree in Accounting. MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 7+ combined years of relevant work experience in corporate and/or operating business unit roles.
  • A solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and costing is essential.
  • Ability and willingness to travel an estimated 10-15%
  • Skills & Relevant Work Experience
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills. Extensive managerial and accounting experience.
  • Participative management style – advocates team concepts and efforts. Sound administrative and management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software.
  • Proven experience with business intelligence tools, i.e., Power BI and Tableau, is strongly desired.
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing systems, well-developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated ability to manage personnel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Results and profit-oriented with the ability to balance business considerations. Capable of establishing credibility and being decisive while recognizing and supporting the company’s preferences and priorities.
